Rangers look to have sealed their new manager with Steven Gerrard appearing to be the favourite to take over at the club, but fans in the Transfer Tavern will be interested to hear comments being made about their managerial hunt.
The Liverpool legend is thought to be close to agreeing to a deal with the Ibrox outfit in the coming days, however, Steve Clarke was rumoured to be a target for Mark Allen. The director of football has been leading the charge to find someone to replace Graeme Murty, who was put in temporary charge following Pedro Caixinha’s sacking seven months ago.
The Scottish Sun are claiming that the Kilmarnock boss has revealed that there has been no contact between him and the Light Blues, despite earlier claims that he had snubbed an approach. He told of how happy he is at Rugby Park and did not feel it was right to talk about the situation.
“There was no offer. For me it’s not really a story,” he told the Scottish Sun.
“I’m happy here at Kilmarnock, I enjoy the work I’m doing and I look forward to next season.
“I don’t really think I should be standing here talking about Rangers because it’s not my club. Kilmarnock is the club I’m working for.”
Rangers fans in the Tavern will be concerned about the conflicting reports, however, it appears that they have already solved their managerial vacancy with the pending arrival of Gerrard.
