Rangers may not have anything but pride to play for now this season, that should not take anything away from the job that Steven Gerrard has managed to conduct at Ibrox in his first campaign as a manager.
The novice made a number of changes to his squad in the summer and winter as he looked to freshen things up and it appears he could be about to make a few more additions in the upcoming window, with an attacker thought to be on his list.
What’s the News?
Football Insider have claimed that Rangers have offered Birmingham City’s Greg Stewart a pre-contract to join them in the summer.
The forward’s present deal at the Championship outfit is set to expire in the summer and the Light Blues are eager to act quickly to beat the competition.
Stewart appears to be a man in demand and it could be a piece of smart business by Rangers if they are trying to get a deal done as quickly as possible.
Stewart’s prolificacy in the Scottish Premiership could prove to be a no-brainer for Rangers, whilst the chance to sign him on a free transfer would make complete sense.
The forward has been in fine form for Aberdeen this season, having hit nine goals and provided his team-mates with 10 assists.
Although he is 29-years-old, he is currently in his prime and can offer Gerrard plenty of versatility, as he can play on either flank or be utilised as the focal point of the attack. That could come in handy at Ibrox next season if Alfredo Morelos does leave the club.
Although the Colombian’s goals will be dearly missed if he does depart, Stewart could prove to be the man to replace the South American and allow the club to use the money they receive for the 22-year-old on other areas of the squad instead.
Rangers fans, do you think Stewart could be a hit at Ibrox? Do you think he could replace Morelos next season? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
