Rangers fans, for the most part, will have largely been delighted with what Steven Gerrard has managed to achieve in his first season as a manager and at their club.
One thing that the former Liverpool and England international has managed to impress with is his ability to do well in terms of player recruitment and it appears he could be about to pull off another exciting deal.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Scottish Sun, Rangers are understood to be on the verge of completing a pre-contract agreement for Jake Hastie.
It is claimed the Light Blues have offered the Motherwell starlet a four-year deal to join them at Ibrox in the summer once his deal at Fir Park expires.
Rangers are expected to have to pay a ‘chunky’ fee for the player though, as the Lanarkshire outfit will be owed compensation for his training and development costs.
Gerrard has been truly remarkable with his player acquisitions since arriving last summer and the imminent capture of Hastie will be another that is bound to get the fans at Rangers further excited about the future.
The 19-year-old is highly-rated and is thought to have courted plenty of interest from some of England’s top Championship clubs, as well as Old Firm rivals Celtic in recent weeks, and his performances have shown exactly why.
Hastie has recorded five goals and one assist in his eight games for Motherwell since breaking into the first-team and has been creating a real wave of excitement about his future and will now become the second wide man to team up with the Ibrox outfit in the summer when Jordan James completes his move from Kilmarnock.
Although the compensation fee has not been stated, should the teenager go onto develop further and reach the potential many see him destined to achieve, Rangers may have landed themselves a bargain and one that the club’s fans will love to see in action.
Rangers fans, how happy are you with the news that Hastie appears set to join the club on a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer switch? Join in the discussion below by sharing your thoughts on the news.
