Rangers fans here in the Tavern are hoping for success next season after a rather stalling campaign, as the Bluenoses will be desperate to secure some silverware.
Graeme Murty’s tenure ended fairly quickly and Dave King pulled a rabbit out of the hat to bring Steven Gerrard to Ibrox as his replacement, starting from next season. Indeed, the aforementioned former youth coach was impressive towards the start of his reign, but things have turned sour in recent times as bitter rivals Celtic continue to get the better of them.
Although, the summer months will also be crucial when it comes to bringing in potential signings, as many of our local residents are expecting a major overhaul to be conducted.
So, Rangers should think outside the box when it comes to recruiting players in the summer transfer window, as bringing a couple of proven former players back to the club could work wonders next season. And, with defensive issues constantly bringing the side down, perhaps this is an area that Rangers should look to improve.
Therefore, Rangers should look to re-sign these TWO players in the summer…
Steven Davis currently plays his football in the English Premier League for relegation contenders Southampton, but has struggled to help his side out so far this season as injuries continue to take their toll.
Although, Rangers’ central midfield is currently lacking experience with Graham Dorrans being the only senior member, so perhaps the Bluenoses should look to reunite with one of their former players.
Encouragingly, Steven Davis has had two previous stints at Ibrox, as he joined on loan from Fulham and then signed on a permanent deal, so supporters will know exactly what to expect.
This season has been one to forget for Alan Hutton as he’s had to battle with an injury for large parts, and could face a summer transfer window exit after being linked with a move away from Villa Park back in January.
Indeed, promotion to the Premier League may be the only thing that saves the Scotsman’s career at Aston Villa, as his experience could prove crucial in the top-flight. But, the Bluenoses would love nothing more than to take the 33-year-old off their hands in the summer, as many of our local residents believe that he could iron over their current defensive problems.
So, with experience and quality in abundance, Rangers shouldn’t hesitate to bring the defender to Ibrox this summer.
