Rangers reportedly prepared to offer Premier League man a permanent route to Ibrox

Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with what Steven Gerrard has already been doing at the club, despite not having taken the hot-seat at Ibrox already.

The former Liverpool star has made his intentions known that he wants to bring a number of players in to help strengthen his side’s cause, and has already made two Premier League signings so far. Having secured Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor from Burnley and Hull City respectively, he is continuing to look at adding to his defence.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Gerrard is interested in bringing West Ham United’s Reece Burke to the Scottish Premiership on a permanent deal, with the Hammers ready to consider offers and cash-in on the 21-year-old.

Landlord’s Verdict

The defender has impressed during his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship and has shown that he has the maturity to play at a high level, meaning he could be ready to do a job for Rangers.

The centre-back position will be an area for concern amongst the locals in the Tavern, with David Bates to depart and Bruno Alves not being considered good enough, however, the Gers could find it difficult to get a deal done.

The Hammers are going through their own managerial change at the moment and whoever decides to come in, could decide that Burke has a future at the London Stadium, meaning Gerrard may have to look elsewhere.
