Rangers are interested in signing Bolton Wanderers’ young winger Dennis Politic, that is according to a report from Football Insider.
The 19-year-old has made his first-team breakthrough for the Trotters in the 2019/20 season, and has reportedly caught the eye of the Glasgow club.
Politic is one of several young players that were used by the club in the opening few weeks of the current campaign, with the League One outfit lacking first-team players due to their financial struggles.
However, unlike most Politic has actually managed to keep notching up appearances for Bolton even after they signed nine more experienced heads on deadline day.
According to Football Insider Rangers are now interested in signing the Romanian, as well as his Trotters teammate Ronan Darcy.
However, they could face significant competition for Politic’s signature, with West Midlands duo Wolves and Aston Villa also thought to be showing an interest.
If Rangers do sign Politic, then it is likely that he wouldn’t go straight into the first team at Ibrox. It is more probable that he would be brought in as one for the future, given their current strength in depth as they sit atop the SPFL.
However, there is certainly potential with Politic and it is easy to see why the Gers, and several others, are interested in securing his services.
He has already made 11 appearances in all competitions this season despite being just 19-years-old. He has even managed to score two goals, one in the EFL Cup against Rochdale and the other in an EFL Trophy tie against Bradford City (via WhoScored).
Given Bolton’s financial insecurities he is unlikely to cost too much either, so he could be well worth a punt for the Glaswegian club who have had similar success with the likes of Joe Aribo this season.
