Rangers returned to winning ways on Saturday as they left it late to defeat St. Mirren in their Scottish Premiership fixture.
The Light Blues will now head to Russia to face Spartak Moscow in their Europa League tie, as they look to edge themselves closer to a place in the next round of the tournament.
Steven Gerrard has admitted in the past that some of his players needed to start performing in the bigger games and has revealed he will look to delve into the transfer market once again if he needs to.
It is understood the Scottish Premiership side had a scout in attendance during the Athens Derby between Panathinaikos and AEK Athens on Saturday.
The report fails to state who Gerrard may have had in mind, however, Ezequiel Ponce could be on his radar as the Argentine is thought to be in-demand and has hit the ground running.
Although it is unknown at this time, Rangers could well have been in attendance to get a closer eye on Ponce.
The Argentine, who is currently on loan from AS Roma, has been in fine form for the Greek outfit and has found the back of the net five times in his last eight games.
The same cannot be said of Umar Sadiq, who also joined from the Italian side as he has struggled to make an impact at Ibrox, with many fearing he will not have many more opportunities to do so either.
