Ryan Kent has been a revelation this season down the left wing for Rangers. Well, while he might not stick around as it currently stands, Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo has the ability have the next same impact next campaign.
While it’s not clear if Kent will return next season, what is obvious is that the formula of bringing in a confident youngster with something to prove means he’ll give you pace and direct attacking football that excites the crowd and creates goals.
Indeed, Football Insider have claimed the Gers are interested in bringing 21-year-old Ojo to Rangers in the hope he has the same impact. The signs are good if his loan showings for French side Reims this season are anything to go by.
He’s shown all the qualities that Kent has and is at the same stage in his career as Kent was when he joined Gerrard. The Liverpool legend’s connection with his old club means he knows who the best talent is at Melwood, so there’s no doubt he’ll shine in Scotland.
It’s important that Rangers replace any outgoings with equally talented players this summer or they’ll fall ever further behind Celtic. If they can secure Ojo then he could be a masterstroke signing that helps bridge the gap at the top of the table.
It’s a massive summer for Rangers in their hunt for their first Scottish Premiership since their return to the top flight, but they should follow the blueprint that Kent proved worked this season and raid Liverpool for their best young talents like Ojo.
