Rangers should target Rolando Aarons

Rangers have been superb under the guidance of Steven Gerrard so far this season as they may be able to finally upset Celtic at long last.

The Bluenoses have certainly made a lot of moves on the transfer front this summer and they might not be finished just yet. Of course, the transfer deadline is today for Scottish clubs, so Steven Gerrard may have his eye on another potential addition that could bolster his squad even further.

Indeed, it’s vital that the Scottish club can secure the services of another midfielder before the deadline as this is an area that requires improvement, with Jamie Murphy out through injury.

And, one name that Steven Gerrard could take a look at is Newcastle United’s Rolando Aarons in the form of a loan deal.

The midfielder has not been handed a squad number at St James’ Park this season, so a move away seems extremely likely. Indeed, the winger is a very exciting prospect and showed glimpses of class during his loan spell at Italian side Verona last season.

Worryingly, the Bluenoses are going to have to be without Jamie Murphy for a while, with James Tavernier having to fill in on the right-hand side of midfield at times. Therefore, it’s vital that Rangers bring the 22-year-old to the club to help provide cover.
