Rangers: Steven Gerrard confident Alfredo Morelos will stay beyond January

In his post match interview with BT Sports, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard made fans of the club even happier after their 3-0 Betfred League Cup semi-final win over Hearts by declaring that Alfredo Morelos isn’t going anywhere.

Morelos has been subject to an increase in interest recently, with both Crystal Palace and Aston Villa said to be considering making January offers — 20 goals before Bonfire Night will do that for a striker.

After his spectacular display against Hearts where he scored two and set-up the other, Gerrard was asked if he is confident that the Colombian forward will still be at the club come the end of the next transfer window.

Gerrard replied: “I’m not confident, I’m sure, I’m 100% sure, he’s not going anywhere.”

Still, if he continues in his current form, Palace,Villa and maybe even some bigger clubs will surely be knocking on Gerrard’s door sooner or later.

Rangers fans were delighted with the gaffer’s comments. If silverware is to be secured, Morelos will surely be key to any success that will come the Ibrox club’s way.

Here is a selection of some of the best reactions to Gerrard’s comments and his news on Morelos on Twitter.
