Rangers take American duo on trial

Steven Gerrard already seems to be looking to make additions to his Rangers squad ahead of the January transfer window.

According to a report by STV, Matt Polster and Andrew Gutman have both joined the Light Blues on a trial.

Polster is an American international that can play at full-back, as well as in midfield, and his current contract with Chicago Fire is thought to be set to expire at the end of the year.

Gutman is still in the early stages of his footballing career, with the Indiana University prospect set to make the jump into the senior game after graduating from his college programme.

Gerrard is keen to add to his squad this winter after seeing both Ovie Ejaria and Umar Sadiq both return to their parent clubs, whilst also having a desire to add more creativity to his team.

The Verdict:

Both players could bring different qualities to Rangers if they were both to be successful with their trial periods.

Polster already has some experience of playing at a top level, having featured for the international side, whilst Gutman would have to almost be considered a player for the future.

Gerrard looks to be getting his potential business done as early as possible, however, it would not be a surprise to see more faces potentially arrive at Ibrox this winter.
