Airdrie winger, and Rangers transfer target, Thomas Robert has recently talked about his situation and has also addressed his future with the Scottish club.
Robert has previously been linked with a move to Rangers, but the likes of Hibernian, Hearts, Dundee United and the Gers’ Old Firm rivals have also been monitoring the French winger. Airdrie manager Ian Murray has also admitted to the fact that bids from clubs such as the Gers are ‘not far away’ right now.
Robert discusses his future
Robert was recently talking about his situation in an interview with the Daily Mail (via Glasgow Times). The Rangers target believes that he has already proven himself at Airdrie and he has shown that he can play at a higher level soon enough. He also made it clear that he loves Scotland and Scottish football.
Should Rangers sign Thomas Robert?
The Frenchman said that he has heard about the interest from Rangers and Celtic and that he dreams about playing for one of those clubs or in the Premier League.
The Gers target said: “I’ve heard about this but I don’t like to focus on it. I just try to do my best for the team, score goals and enjoy being on the pitch.
“We’ll see what happens in the future. I don’t look further than winning the next game. The most important thing is, first of all, to prove myself with Airdrie and after, of course, it’s a dream for me to play with a big team like Celtic, Rangers or in the English Premier League.”
Robert has done well for Airdrie in Scottish League One this season. He has found the back of the net three times, picking up two assists in nine appearances. He has also scored once in the Scottish League Cup (as per Transfermarkt).
Robert could be a good signing for Rangers
Robert is a right-winger by trade but the Frenchman can play on the left-wing as well. As things stand, Steven Gerrard’s men have quite a few out-and-out options for the left-wing role but the Gers don’t have a single natural option for the right-wing spot (as per Transfermarkt).
Robert could potentially fill in a spot at the club and add depth to Gerrard’s squad as well. He is still 20-years-old and therefore, he has scope to improve as a player. So signing him could be a good option for the Gers.
