Steven Gerrard may have made plenty of personnel changes to his squad over the past couple of transfer windows, however, it does not appear as though he is quite happy with what he has managed to achieve at Rangers so far.
Plenty of failed recruits have come and gone at Ibrox during the manager’s tenure and it appears he could be set to offload another experienced international from the club’s books.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Football Insider, Rangers are preparing to tell Lee Hodgson that he will need to find a new club in the summer.
The defender’s contract at Ibrox expires at the end of the season and it is believed Gerrard has no plans to keep him at the club.
It is hardly a surprise that Hodson will not be offered a new deal at Rangers and will be free to leave the club in the summer.
The Northern Ireland international has been out on loan with St. Mirren for the whole campaign and it has become abundantly clear that Gerrard has no use for him, especially after making additions to the left-back and right-back positions last summer with the arrival of Borna Barisic and Jon Flanagan.
The 27-year-old has hardly been a mainstay in the team since joining Rangers from the MK Dons back in 2016 when Mark Warburton was in charge and found a place in the first-team difficult under Pedro Caixinha as well.
Despite his recent injury, Hodson had performed rather well for the Scottish Premiership side in their brave fight against relegation, which led to Oran Kearney praising his ability, so it would not be a surprise if the Paisley outfit decided to offer him a contract.
