Rangers want Iraq international Mohanad Ali - Latest News

Despite all the business Rangers have already managed to conduct this January, Steven Gerrard appears to have another target on his radar.

According to Football Insider, the Light Blues are believed to be interested in Mohanad Ali as he continues to impress with his performances.

The Iraqi wonderkid has excelled for his nation at the Asia Cup this month for his country by scoring two goals in three matches as they progressed to the last 16.

Rangers have taken note of his ability, however, a number of Europe’s biggest clubs have also recognised what the 18-year-old is already capable of achieving.

Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and Anderlecht are just a few of the sides thought to have become admirers of the teenager and have all watched him in action.

A prolific goalscorer at both club and international level, Ali has hit 37 goals in his 77 matches for Al-Shorta and Al-Kahrabaa combined, whilst he has eight in 14 for Iraq.

The Verdict:

Ali is a player that has certainly started to turn heads with his performances and is earning rave reviews from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Rangers will no doubt have a battle on their hands if they are to try and lure the teenager to Ibrox at some point.

With Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos already at the club, if they were to add the Iraqi to the side, who knows what Gerrard’s side will be able to achieve.
