Rangers are a force to be reckoned with in the current campaign as they continue to push towards the Scottish Premiership title.
Indeed, the Bluenoses have already defied expectations this season having muscled their way through the Europa League qualification stages. Although, it looks as if Steven Gerrard still has one eye on bolstering his squad, as according to the Record, Rangers want to sign Ryan Gauld.
Rangers are pursuing Sporting CP attacker Ryan Gauld as a replacement for Jamie Murphy after the former Scottish wonderkid was made available by the Europa League club.
It’s understood that Rangers want to sign the 22-year-old on a season-long loan with the option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
Although, the Bluenoses aren’t the only club interested in his services as Dutch side Excelsior are also in the hunt.
The former Dundee starlet hasn’t lived up to expectations since making the move to Portugal, but he could be offered the chance to rediscover his form back in Scotland if Rangers make a move.
Jamie Murphy will be out for a long period of time so it’s important that Gerrard can find a suitable replacement for the winger before the deadline.
Indeed, the Bluenoses season will all depend on whether Murphy’s replacement can produce the same quality that he brought to the side as he has been one of the standout performers so far this season.
