‘Announce signing’, ‘A Glasgow Rangers great’ – Rangers fans react to former Ibrox favourite’s post

The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern may not have an awful lot to shout about right now, the punters propping up our bar are never ones to forget past members of the club’s family.

Indeed, the collective mind of our local Light Blues was taken off the club’s management hunt yesterday as former Ibrox favourite Steven Davis travelled to London to pick up his MBE from Buckingham Palace. The 32-year-old was awarded with the honour for his services to Northern Irish football, captaining his country at Euro 2016.

Just one result away from the World Cup this summer, the current Southampton skipper made 152 appearances for the Light Blues between 2008 and 2012, winning every major domestic trophy along the way. While his exit following the financial crisis that hit Ibrox was an acrimonious one, few would want to take a part of his emotional day away from him.

Having said that, here’s a look at how Rangers fans reacted to Steven Davis’ big day.
