Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with what new boss Steven Gerrard has already done with the Ibrox outfit, and will certainly be hoping that it continues over the course of the summer.
The former Liverpool midfielder has taken the reins at the Light Blues and has already been seeking to make his mark on the squad, bringing in a number of new signings to help with his ambitions.
Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy have all joined Gerrard at Ibrox this summer and he is continuing his effort, but will need to pay big to land one of his main targets as per recent reports.
And that’s because The Daily Record are reporting that he must stump up at least £3 million to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Connor Goldson, after having two bids already rejected.
The defender is allowed to leave the Seagulls should the Premier League outfit receive the right price, and Rangers are believed to be readying another bid imminently as they seek to bring the 25-year-old north of the border.
Landlord’s Verdict: The defender has clearly made an impression on Gerrard and the Gers, what with the club set to make a third bid for his services.
Goldson would fill a void at centre back that Rangers need to fill as quickly as possible, and a move to Ibrox would be good for the 25-year-old given his lack of game time at Brighton.
The defender is keen on first team football, and as the Light Blues failed in their attempts to bring Martin Skrtel to Glasgow, Goldson would certainly make up for their inability to get a deal across the line as Gerrard eyes further reinforcements at Ibrox.
