It’s proven to be a fairly mixed start to the campaign for the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern this season.
While two wins on the bounce have helped ease the pressure on Pedro Caixinha, a few of our local Light Blues remain on the fence as to whether the Portuguese is indeed the right man to carry the club forward.
One man who has enjoyed his start to life at Ibrox though is new boy, Alfredo Morelos. Not all too much was known about the Colombian upon his initial arrival from Helsinki this summer but the Colombian is making waves with his clinical form in front of goal thus far.
Seven goals in five games have endeared him to the Gers’ faithful and the 21-year-old is looking like a serious snip amid Caixinha’s rather mixed bag of an overhaul so far. Indeed, the marksman has been speaking to the Daily Mail about his desire to break into the Colombia squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
‘I’m growing and improving as a player and now my next aim is a place in the Colombia squad,’ he said.
‘I’m training well, playing well, scoring goals. Football in Scotland is aggressive and powerful. My mindset is to carry on doing the right things and wait for the call. I am very calm.
‘It has been a very good start for me at Rangers. I had a very hard pre-season and that prepared me to start in the league.
‘I think I am adapting well to the team and this is being reflected on the pitch. I am really happy. I have been starting games and the continuity has helped me. I’m at my best when I am happy and I certainly am at Rangers.’
As you can imagine, Morelos has been backed by the Rangers fans in our bar, who’d love to see him line up alongside the likes of Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez in Russia for La Tricolor.
