The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t had a huge amount to shout about over the course of the season so far.
Indeed, Pedro Caixinha’s overhaul is yet to fully convince the punters propping up our bar, though his decision to hand Ross McCrorie a starting berth has at least excited a few of our local Light Blues. The young defender has been brought into the first-team fold as a result of an injury crisis, though has looked assured in forming part of an otherwise makeshift backline.
Now, following comments made to Rangers TV (posted on their official website), the Portuguese gaffer has hinted he’d be willing to blood the youngsters even more. With the 19-year-old impressing, Caixinha has urged other burgeoning talents to up their game and follow in his footsteps as he looks to find a winning formula at Ibrox.
“Yeah, we got a lot of positives, it was good for them and it helped the boys to get that rhythm”, he said.
“But also to follow some of the young players that now, because we have some of our players from the first-team squad out, they are playing with us and they are training with us so it’s great.”
”I think Ross opened the door again for those players and understood the conversation we had with them at the beginning of the season, when we said, ‘we are having a look at you, keep working, we are going to call you when we have the need for players in your position because we know and we trust you and if there are circumstances when we need to place you in the first eleven or with the substitutes and give you the chance, we are going to give you it.’
Why not? Caixinha needs all the help he can get right now and giving supporters the chance to see top young talents develop may buy him a bit more time.
