The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern know to never get too happy. Indeed, while our resident Gers were delighted with recent wins over bitter rivals Aberdeen and Hibernian, the manner in which they lost to St. Johnstone has not gone down well in our bar.
So, having said that, our local Light Blues aren’t in the mood for more bad news. Still, unfortunately for them, reports from their official website don’t paint the prettiest of pictures at Ibrox, heading into the hectic festive period prior to the winter break.
As revealed by their site, Gers star Kenny Miller could face a significant period out of action after the veteran marksman ruptured his hamstring during last week’s win at Easter Road. The 37-year-old was forced off in the first-half over in Edinburgh last week and caretaker boss Graeme Murty has confirmed the former Scotland international will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after the blow.
“Kenny’s is going to be more significant than we thought”, he said.
”Unfortunately it looks as though he has a rupture of his hamstring, so he is going to have a significant amount of time out.”
Could this be the end for Miller? At 37, such an injury could have an awful effect on his fitness and, with his contract soon expiring, it’d be interesting to see whether or not the club look to extend.
