Confirmed: Great news for Rangers fans as club reveal big agreement

Rangers fans here in the Tavern are still to get over their 6-1 thrashing of Ayr United at the weekend, with even more good news heading the way of supporters this week.

Indeed, Graeme Murty seems to have Rangers oozing with class this season, as the Gers look to add European football to next season’s agenda for the second successive campaign. And, keeping hold of a couple of notable stars within their ranks will go along way to making this a reality, which is exactly what Mark Allen has managed to achieve, as according to a post from Rangers’ Twitter account, defender James Tavernier has committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal at Ibrox.

The full-back is officially tied down to a contract that keeps him in Glasgow until 2021, as Graeme Murty has finally managed to secure a future for a player that he believes is ‘the best right back in the country’. Indeed, after reports suggested that talks were well underway over the past couple of days, seeing the situation resolved in such quick time has our local residents ecstatic with the news.

And, after captaining the club for the first time in Rangers’ 6-1 win in the Scottish Cup at the weekend, perhaps that’s a sign of things to come for the bright career ahead of the Englishman at Ibrox. Although, the full-back has even bigger aspirations he’d like to meet with the club, as the Scottish Premier League title is being eyed up by the defensive star.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Rangers will be absolutely over the moon having managed to tie down one of the stars within their ranks, as they’ll look to swiftly follow on with new and improved deals for other crucial members. And, having made his way up to captaincy at the weekend for the Gers, perhaps they’ve just secured themselves a future club captain in the process.
