Rangers chairman Dave King recently announced he was due to step down as chairman of the club in 2020 after a four-and-half-year stint at the helm.
As per the BBC, the South African-based businessman announced his plan to leave at the club’s AGM in Glasgow after a whirlwind time in charge at Ibrox. Indeed, according to the Daily Mail back in 2012, he was willing to invest in the club again despite previously losing his £20m investment before that as the club financially collapsed, so is a hugely popular figure amongst the club’s support.
Of late, he’s backed manager Steven Gerrard with the fairly big signings of players such as Ryan Kent and Steven Davis – two of the club’s all-time top 25 most expensive players via Transfermarkt – as well as paying big wages of a reported (via the Times) £65k per week to bring Jermain Defoe to Ibrox.
So, as the Scottish giants prepare to enter a new era, here’s how a number of fans reacted.
