While things had previously been going well for the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern since the exit of Pedro Caixinha, there’s always something to talk about at Ibrox.
Indeed, while our resident Gers had enjoyed life without Pedro Caixinha, reports that Bruno Alves had refused to be a substitute for the Light Blues’ loss to Hamilton has seriously annoyed our punters. Though there have since been suggestions that wasn’t true, it’s another unhappy episode in a frustrating Rangers career that hasn’t really got off the ground just yet.
The veteran defender was a big name signing for the Scottish giants, having played for top clubs around Europe, though has struggled to convince and has made just eight starts for Rangers. With that in mind, here’s a look at how Rangers fans on Twitter reacted to the idea that Bruno Alves refused to sit on the bench against Hamilton.
Alves refusing to take the bench? That goes against Murty saying he was a top professional and took decision not to be playing well. Interesting story..operation get big earners out…@ClydeSSB

If it is indeed true that Alves refused to be a sub at weekend then he can follow Pedro out the door, yeah he a quality player but the manager picks the team and if a player can’t handle it then tough luck and bye.

Alves refused selection??
Call me cynical, but this wouldnt be getting put out there as a precursor to him getting resigned like Warby and Barton, would it??

Danny wilson done nothing to merit being dropped, murty was right to leave him in, what sort of message is that to the rest of the team? Come in, play well, get dropped. Alves ego getting the better of him!

Would be furious if we lose Alves because a youth coach didn’t fancy him. Complete nonsense from Murty on that one.

No idea if the Alves stuff is true or not but, if it is, it highlights as we all said at the weekend that Murty doesn't want to/know how to deal with the big personalities. That's what happens when you have a caretaker.
