As the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern try and dissect just what has gone wrong this season, many of them could do without the name of a certain Joey Barton.
The 34-year-old is seemingly ready to leave Ibrox after a poisonously short stint with the Gers, and according to the Sun, could be offered a shock quick-fire exit route south of the border.
Derby County manager Steve McClaren is understood to be ready to offer him a move to the iPro, with the one-cap England international having seriously impressed amid Burnley’s promotion season in the Championship last term.
McClaren worked with the ex-Manchester City and Newcastle United midfielder at QPR and is thought to view him as an ideal option to spark a late promotion challenge for the Rams.
Gers chief Mark Warburton is reported to have fallen out with Barton, despite him only penning a two-year deal in Glasgow over the course of the summer.
