According to Mamadou Fofana’s agent Seku Traore, Glasgow Rangers are interested in making a move for the Metz player.
According to Traore, the ‘Gers are interested in making a move for the defender, but they are not the only side who want to sign the 22-year-old.
Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow are also all believed to be in pursuit of the player, who is reportedly valued at £2.5m.
Metz finished in 15th place in Ligue 1 following the end of the season in France but there were actually eight other teams who conceded more than their 35 goals. Fofana, having made 20 appearances in the league, including 18 starts, contributed to that sturdy defence.
Would you like to sign Fofana?
Steven Gerrard will be looking for improvements next term to give his side an extra edge and Fofana could well provide that. This season he has averaged a pass accuracy of 84.7% per game, which shows that he is comfortable on the ball even in defence. With the ‘Gers chasing Glasgow rivals Celtic at the top of the division, being in control of their games from back to front can only help them as they look to close the 13-point gap that was between the teams before the Premiership was abandoned yesterday.
Also, at £2.5m, he could have plenty of resale value given his young age. This a deal that Ross Wilson and co should like to pursue in the off-season.
