Rangers supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side’s home clash with Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, as the Gers seek to cut the gap to leaders Celtic to six points before their match on Sunday.
Graeme Murty’s men go into their encounter with the Edinburgh-based outfit off the back of a thrilling 5-3 victory over Hamilton in their preceding league game, their 16th league success of the campaign so far. But with just six wins from their 13 matches at Ibrox this term, the Light Blues know they must improve their home record if they are continue cutting the gap on leaders Celtic, which will become just six points if Rangers can get the better of Craig Levein’s Hearts on Saturday.
Subsequently, there are many optimistic Gers fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are backing their team to indeed come through and get all three points to once again bridge the gap to Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys.

And many of our resident Light Blues fans have been discussing who could be the key man for their side this weekend, and while some point to the goal-scoring ability of in-demand ace Alfredo Morelos, it’s in-form Jamie Murphy who many feel holds the key to victory on Saturday.
Ultimately, the 28-year-old has made an excellent start to life north of the border following his loan switch from Brighton during January, starting all five Scottish Premiership matches since, in which he has shown no signs of rustiness despite earning just five appearances for the Seagulls in the first half of the campaign.
And the Scottish winger is now beginning to make a big impact in the final third as his last two appearances, against Ayr United in the Scottish Cup and against Hamilton, have yielded a mightily impressive two goals and five assists.
Murphy contributed to four of the five goals Murty’s men bagged against Martin Canning’s Hamilton last weekend to underline the growing influence he is having on this Rangers team, an influence that will again be needed against Levein’s Hearts on Saturday.
The Edinburgh-based outfit have lost just one of their last 14 Scottish Premiership matches, and that was to leaders Celtic, and have kept a remarkable nine clean sheets in that time – that sort of defensive resilience is likely to give the Light Blues plenty to think about at Ibrox on Saturday.
Yet in Murphy, they have one of the most in-form players in the division, and with five assists in his last 180 minutes of football, he looks the most likely to find those pockets of space and thread balls through to open up the Hearts backline.
Thus, the £1.58 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt) could be the man to ruin Levein’s men at Ibrox this weekend.
