Pedro Caixinha is quickly winning over Rangers fans who were sceptical about his lack of British football know-how when he joined the club and a cheer erupted in the Transfer Tavern when the Daily Mail’s report that Peter Lovenkrands might return as a coach under the Portuguese boss landed.
The new Ibrox chief is eager to add a No.3 to his backroom staff with good knowledge of the club and the Scottish game, and the former Denmark international is locked in a three-way battle with Barry Ferguson and John Brown.
Lovenkrands is understood to have remained close to the club he represented between 2000 and 2006, often taking part in in-house media productions.
The Daily Mail go as far as to say that talks are set for this week, with the 37-year-old set to be given the chance to pitch for the role, albeit Ferguson is the favourite.
Lovenkrands won three league titles, three League Cups and the Scottish Cup while in Glasgow and is remembered fondly by Gers fans.
Peter Lovenkrands would be a good man to have back at Rangers – agree?
