According to a recent report from The London Evening Standard, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou could be set for a move away in the January transfer window. The 23-year-old currently plays his football at Premier League outfit Tottenham and has done so since leaving Marseille back in 2016, although a lack of regular game time under manager Mauricio Pochettino has plunged his future at the club into doubt.
And reports suggest that the North Londoners are seeking to get rid of the winger this month, which should be of keen interest to Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, what with Ibrox the perfect place for N’Koudou to reignite his flailing career.
Ultimately, the Gers look set to go toe-to-toe with Old Firm rivals Celtic in pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title this season, with this term the first time in quite a while in which the Light Blues have a realistic chance of winning the league.
Their narrow 1-0 success over Brendan Rodgers’ men at the rear end of last year will certainly give Gerrard and his squad huge confidence heading into the second half of the campaign, but it does look as though further reinforcements will be needed to fend off the Bhoys, who themselves are searching for an eighth straight league crown.
And while Rangers have been pretty impressive in front of goal this season with 43 goals in their 21 matches, Celtic have recently overtaken them in that category to suggest that they may need to score even more to keep pace with Rodgers’ side – N’Koudou’s arrival would certainly aid with that.
The 23-year-old has seriously struggled for regular first team football since moving to Spurs back in 2016, with the young Frenchman mustering only 24 senior appearances for the North London outfit in the last two-and-a-half years, just one of which has come in what has been a very barren season for the winger.
Yet one mustn’t forget that he caught the eye of Pochettino and thus earned a move to the Premier League club as a result of impressing at Marseille between 2015 and 2016, netting ten goals and laying on five assists in only 41 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants – thus, there is clearly a mighty fine winger in the 23-year-old.
And the likelihood of more regular game time at Ibrox in a side that likes to attack and are battling for major trophies can only be beneficial to the former France Under-21 international, certainly a lot more beneficial than sitting on the Spurs bench waiting for an opportunity that hasn’t so far been forthcoming.
Clearly, things aren’t working at Tottenham and N’Koudou needs to make a change, and with Rangers heading in the right direction under Gerrard going into 2019, the £6.3 million-rated Premier League outcast (as per Transfermarkt) should seek to reignite his flailing career with a move to the Scottish heavyweights.
