Gerrard must beat Lampard into signing Rangers’ ideal 2018 version of Kevin Thomson

The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have largely been delighted with the way in which Steven Gerrard has undertaken his rebuild at Ibrox. Indeed, with excitement building amongst our resident Gers, the punters propping up our bar are looking forward to the new campaign.

Still, while the new signing have been impressive, our local Light Blues want more. With that in mind, reports in the Daily Mail claiming Derby County boss Frank Lampard is keen on a move for Hibernian star John McGinn have prompted many of the Bears in our bar to urge Gerrard into making a move.

The Scotland international is a wonderful driving force from midfield, somewhat reminiscent of Kevin Thomson, who made a similar move from Easter Road to back in 2007. At their worst last season, the Gers lacked any sort of drive in midfield, so luring McGinn across to Glasgow would certainly move to address that.

Indeed, the idea of him pairing Ryan Jack in the centre of midfield is a seriously exciting one ahead of their Europa League campaign too.

Celtic have been linked with a move for 23-year-old, though perhaps Gerrard can convince him to join his revolution. If he did, then Rangers really would have a crack at the title.
