Gerrard should definitely try and bring talented £2.7m-rated Northern Irishman to Rangers

The Rangers fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are excited to see what new manager Steven Gerrard decides to do with his team during the summer transfer window in order to launch a proper title challenge to hated rivals Celtic.

It is assumed, by our punters, that Steven Gerrard will look to bring English players with him to help the transition feel easier to complete. Although this defender now finds himself in League one, our punters feel that Paddy McNair has been unfairly picked on at Sunderland. It is well known that Sunderland were destined for the drop as soon as the season started with their club a complete mess from top to bottom. McNair, however, has been one of their better players and after playing in 19 games last season, the £2.7 million-rated man scored an impressive 5 goals for a player who plays both centre-back and as a defensive midfielder.

McNair was once at Manchester United but ever since his move to Sunderland, his career has gradually declined. Although he hasn’t been at fault personally, the club he belongs to have been on a steep downfall, resulting in the fact that the Black Cats are now set to play their football in League One.

The 23-year-old can be rescued by Steven Gerrard with an inviting move to Rangers and one which could work out well for both parties. McNair has shown that he is more than capable playing in the Championship and even Premier League, so there is no reason why he wouldn’t be a worthwhile addition in Scotland.
