The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been absolutely delighted with the way in which Steven Gerrard’s rebuild has gone so far this summer. Indeed, our local Light Blues have been happy to see the likes of Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor join this summer, though attentions must now turn to who leaves.
The Gers have a slightly bloated squad after poorly run windows under the likes of Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty, so Gerrard must be forceful with the deadwood as he looks to shape his squad. With that in mind, according to the Daily Record, he’s set to meet the hierarchy to discuss one of Ibrox’s biggest outcasts.
Lee Wallace – who was suspended by the club earlier this season – still has a year left on his deal and Gerrard will reportedly meet Ibrox chiefs to discuss what to do with the club captain. A popular figure during his earlier years at the club, Wallace has had no involvement in the last few months and it seems likely they will listen to offers.
An ugly saga of course, though it seems our local Light Blues are ready to trust in Gerrard whatever decision he makes.
If Gerrard can get over this whole ugly incident quickly and efficiently, his Rangers reign may indeed get off to a good start. The former Liverpool skipper must deal with this in the right manner and come to quick conclusion to avoid any hangover from last season, so the meeting Wednesday should certainly help clear matters up.
