The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see what the future brings with Steven Gerrard now at the helm of the club. Can they finally launch a substantial challenge against rivals Celtic or will it be another managerial mistake?
That is a question on many lips right now and whilst Steven Gerrard has shown the potential of being a top manager, will he actually turn out to be one?
Only time will tell but one thing is for certain, Rangers need some new players this summer and what better idea than for Gerrard to raid his beloved Liverpool for some talented players?
One player our punters have in mind is Dominic Solanke, who is valued at £7.2 million by Transfer Markt. His time at Liverpool has been far from successful, after failing to score for the first-team all season long thus far. The 20-year-old certainly seems to have the traits of a good forward and Rangers could be the club to allow him the chance to shine.
Solanke is still only young but with the big, passionate bunch of supporters Rangers have, the Englishman, like Gerrard, could feel very at home at Ibrox.
Let’s not forget, despite his struggles in the Premier League, he was deadly during his spell in the Chelsea developmental system, and so perhaps a move to Scotland will allow him to return to that level of form in a slightly less competitive league.
Due to the immense form of Liverpool’s front three, Solanke has only had limited opportunities from the start of games and at times he has looked to have potential.
Rangers are a team struggling for confidence and whilst this season has been another failure to compete with Celtic, next already seems to have the potential to be a good one – and bringing in an exciting youngster like Solanke would be a great way to start things off.
