Gerrard’s cash-strapped Rangers rebuild could do with bargain £1.3m-rated free agent

The Rangers fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are hoping that new manager Steven Gerrard can add a few quality players to their side this summer in the hope of challenging for the Scottish Premiership title once again.

It has been a rollercoaster season once again for the Gers but this time it’s ended with the appointment of an exciting manager in former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard. Fans are optimistic that he can build a legacy at Rangers, starting with the signing of former Newcastle left-back Massadio Haidara, who is valued at £1.3 million on Transfermarkt. Although it isn’t necessarily a big-name capture, the 25-year-old still has a lot to offer and his best form could be found under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox. Especially seeing as they can’t afford Martin Skrtel.

The Frenchman could only manage a whole 3 minutes during the Premier League campaign this season and for an experienced player like himself, that really isn’t enough. Moving to Rangers could provide Haidara with a fresh start and the ambition to succeed once more. Haidara has been an important figure for the Magpies over the years because his versatility down the left flank allowed him to provide a fresh option for Newcastle when called upon.

Okay, granted, Massadio Haidara isn’t a thrilling player, not by any means but a move to Rangers could bring out the form that was only seen in glimpses during his time at St James’ Park. Steven Gerrard is likely to explore the English market seeing as he played there for many years, so why not gamble on free agent Massadio Haidara?
