According to L’Equipe, French side Stade Brestois have had a bid rejected for Clermont striker and Glasgow Rangers target Adrian Grbic.
The Gers are said to be interested in the Austrian forward, with Clermont believed to be looking for €10m (£8.9m) for his services.
Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois are said to have made an offer for the 23-year-old, but that was rejected by his current employers, which will be a boost to Rangers.
Grbic was in stunning form for Clermont before the French campaign was prematurely brought to a close. In 26 Ligue 2 matches, he scored a huge 17 goals – that was the second best in the whole division behind Tino Kadewere’s 20 strikes.
Would you like to sign Adrian Grbic?
However, it is hard to see the Gers spending such a huge amount on one player as the current pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the planet. They have not spent £8.9m on one player since they signed Tore Andre Flo in 2000, and the Norwegian remains the only signing in the history of the club higher than what would reportedly be needed to capture Grbic.
The good news here is that the Gers are now still in the fight for his signature, but Ross Wilson will need to work some of his magic and reduce that reported price-tag if we are to see the former Austria U21 international in a blue shirt any time soon.
