According to TEAMtalk, Glasgow Rangers are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday’s Morgan Fox on a free transfer.
Glasgow Rangers are said to be eyeing a move for Fox, who is set to leave Hillsborough this summer when his contract with the Owls comes to an end.
There will be plenty of competition for his services, though, with Burnley, Norwich, Bournemouth, West Brom and Middlesbrough also all credited with an interest in the 26-year-old defender.
At the moment, Steven Gerrard can rely on Borna Barisic to be one of his star performers from left-back. Before the campaign was recently ended, prior to its completion the Croatia international had managed 14 assists in all competitions, and was even said to be on the radar of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, with a £22m price tag even mentioned.
His departure would leave a big hole for the Gers at the back and, even if he were to stay, the exits of the likes of Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan leave the 54-time Scottish champions short in terms of left-back replacements. That is a problem they could solve by signing Fox. The £720,000-valued 26-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – has plenty of experience in the Championship, having appeared 168 times overall, whilst he is also a six-time Wales under-21 international.
Would you like to sign Morgan Fox?
The signing of Ianis Hagi, who is said to have set the Gers back £6m overall in transfer fees and wages combined, could mean that Gerrard has to look on the cheaper side of the market elsewhere. As a free agent, Fox gives him the perfect opportunity to do just that.
