As per Fotomac (via Sport Witness), Glasgow Rangers are interested in signing Florin Andone from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Andone, who made the switch to the Seagulls for £5.4m in July 2018, is currently out on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray.
However, it looks as though the Super Lig outfit are not interested in taking him on permanently, which should see him return to Brighton at the end of the campaign. The report says that there is a “significant chance” the 27-year-old could team up with Steven Gerrard.
The move to Brighton failed to see Andone turn into a prolific striker, with him scoring just six goals in 30 matches, but there is so much more to his game than that. The Romania international, who has appeared 25 times for his country, is a hard worker and a nuisance for any defence.
Alfredo Morelos is the number one goalscorer at Ibrox currently – he has already bagged 29 times this term – and he has been linked with a move away from the club. However, the current pandemic may throw cold water on to any potential departure from the 54-time Scottish champions. With Jermain Defoe now 37, it is hard for Gerrard to rely on him on a regular basis moving forward, meaning that another attacking option would not go amiss.
Would you like to sign Florin Andone?
Andone could well be the perfect foil for Morelos, allowing the Colombian to concentrate on putting the ball into the back of the net. The former can contribute with the old goal, too, as he showed during the 2016/17 season when he bagged 12 times in 37 matches in La Liga. It remains to be seen how much Brighton would demand, but it is definitely an avenue worth pursuing for Ross Wilson.
