As per The Scottish Daily Mail (16/04, back page and p79), Rangers are set to launch a bid to sign Livingston’s Lyndon Dykes.
24-year-old Dykes joined the Premiership club from Queen of the South at the start of the season, and it has been claimed that the Gers are interested in making a move.
They are not the only side interested in the Australian though – Championship team Stoke City are also said to be eyeing an approach.
Alfredo Morelos is currently Steven Gerrard’s number one striker, and with 29 goals in all competitions already this term he has having quite the campaign. However, the speculation surrounding a potential departure continues to increase, and a whole host of clubs – including Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund – are said to be interested.
A new striker may therefore be needed in the summer, and Ross Wilson could well be pulling off an absolute coup if he can persuade Dykes to join. So far this campaign, he has 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games, showing he can put the ball in the back of the net and also provide.
Currently valued at just £428,000 by Transfermarkt, he would hardly break the bank either. If the chance arises, this is an opportunity Rangers can’t afford to miss.
