As per Sport-fm.gr, Glasgow Rangers are set to rival Celtic for goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas.
The report says that not only Celtic are interested in the shot-stopper, but that the Gers are also eager to take him to Scotland.
Added to that, it is also thought that Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United are keen on the AEK Athens shot stopper.
There has already been plenty of changes made to the Gers’ goalkeeping group during this transfer window. Allan McGregor is still set to be number one, but previous back-up option Wes Foderingham has been released by the 54-time Scottish champions, whilst Jak Alnwick has made a move to St. Mirren. Also, Jon McLaughlin has been brought in from Sunderland on a free transfer.
Barkas, though, would be a very interesting option if he could be persuaded to make the switch to Ibrox. Currently valued at £2.16m by Transfermarkt, he has kept the third-most clean sheets in the Greek Super League this season with 11. He also has 10 caps for his country, and was part of the AEK Athens side that won the 2018 league title.
Would you like to sign Barkas?
It remains to be seen where Barkas ends up and with Leeds also mentioned in the report (via English sources), there could be even more competition for the Gers if they really are that interested in taking him to Ibrox. Still, at 26, Barkas could be the number one choice for years to come.
