Ex-Glasgow Rangers legend Barry Ferguson believes that Lyndon Dykes would be a good signing for Steven Gerrard this summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Ibrox following an impressive campaign with Livingston that saw him score nine goals and provide eight assists in 25 Scottish Premiership games. He is not the only striker linked, with others such as Kemar Roofe and Ivan Toney mentioned, but Ferguson believes that the Australian would be a good option.
He told PLZ Soccer when talking about where the Gers need to strengthen:
“Certainly somebody up front who is different from [Alfredo] Morelos and [Jermain] Defoe. I know Lyndon Dykes has been spoken about the last couple of days and If I am honest I do think he would be a good signing for Rangers.”
Morelos and Defoe are both natural goalscorers, having scored a huge 46 goals between them in all competitions in the previous campaign before it was prematurely brought to an end. Dykes, meanwhile, clearly has more of a creative side to his game given the amount of assists he has racked up.
Would you like to sign Lyndon Dykes?
He is said to be valued at around £1m, which would be a drop in the ocean for the Gers for a player with real Premiership quality. It remains to be seen where he will end up.
