According to The Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants Kemar Roofe if Alfredo Morelos leaves the club this summer.
Former Leeds forward Roofe departed Elland Road last summer to make the switch to Anderlecht, with the Belgian outfit parting with £7m for his services.
Morelos has been linked with a move away from Ibrox recently, and if he does leave, Gerrard wants to bring Roofe back to the UK as his focal point up front.
The £4.05m-valued 27-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – has done relatively well in Belgium since making the move. He has managed to score seven goals in 16 matches in all competitions, also chipping in with three assists along the way. That comes after impressing in the Championship with the Whites, scoring 14 times in 32 matches during the 2018/19 campaign.
Would you like to sign Kemar Roofe?
However, whilst he certainly knows where the goal is, he is nowhere near as lethal as Morelos. The Colombia international has been criticised for his lack of professionalism despite scoring 29 times during the previous campaign, a total that Roofe has never managed to obtain.
He would bring something else to Gerrard’s squad, but it is hard to see him being a direct replacement for his current star man. Along with someone else, a more lethal forward, it could be an interesting option, though.
