According to L’Equipe, Glasgow Rangers could quickly make an offer for Stade Brestois midfielder Haris Belkebla.
The Gers are said to be interested in the Algeria international, and the Ibrox outfit are already said to have enquired about the 26-year-old.
They aren’t the only side mentioned, though, with Lens also said to be in pursuit.
Belkebla had a solid campaign in Ligue 1, making 20 starts in France’s top tier in the previous campaign before it was prematurely brought to an end. From a defensive point of view, there are plenty of reasons why the Gers would look to sign him – he averaged 1.9 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game as Brest comfortably finished in 14th place in the table.
Would you like to sign Belkebla?
Currently valued at £1.08m by Transfermarkt, there has been no indication as of yet as to how much he would cost Steven Gerrard and co, but given his decent showings in the top flight in one of Europe’s top five leagues, there is no reason why he couldn’t bring something the Gers need in the middle of the park.
The upcoming campaign is a big one for Gerrard at Ibrox – he must surely grab some silverware if he wants to be in the job for another term after this one. Belkebla could help him do just that.
