Steven Gerrard has said that Ianis Hagi is in perfect condition ahead of the new campaign, and that he is a “fantastic human being”.
The Romania international made the move to Ibrox initially on loan in January. After scoring three goals in his first 12 matches for the club, as well as providing two assists, Gerrard and co were convinced to sign him on a permanent basis – they ended up parting with £3m for his services, which appears to be something of a bargain considering he is currently valued at £4.05m by Transfermarkt.
Gerrard has been speaking to Rangers TV about the 21-year-old, and he has been waxing lyrical about the youngster. He said:
“He is a fantastic human being who wants to learn.
“He has come back in incredible shape. His body fat and his weight – he is in perfect condition right now.”
Hagi’s arrival at Ibrox is a statement of intent from the 54-time Scottish champions – he already has Champions League experience to his name, and he showed with his brace in the Europa League against Braga that he has the ability to decide games.
Will Rangers win the league this season?
The fact that he in fantastic shape and raring to go ahead of the new campaign can only be positive news for the Gers and their supporters. Along with a couple of other new recruits, Hagi can help Gerrard win his first piece of silverware since joining the club.
