Former Glasgow Rangers striker Kris Boyd says that Steven Gerrard needs to bring in two players during this summer window to make an impact at top-team level.
The Gers finished 13 points behind Celtic in the league last term, and have already dipped into the transfer market in an attempt to close that gap. Firstly, they signed Ianis Hagi for £3m from Genk, whilst they also added 20-year-old Calvin Bassey on a free transfer.
“I think Rangers need two players, not squad players but ready to go in and make an impact at top-team level.”
Boyd was lethal during his first spell at Ibrox, managing 101 goals in 143 league matches, and having won two Scottish Premierships, two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups, he is well aware of what is needed to be successful north of the border.
Will Rangers win the league this season?
Whilst the arrivals of Hagi and Bassey are a good start for the Gers, as Boyd says, there is more work to do if they want to challenge at the top. It promises to be an important transfer window for the 54-time Scottish champions.
