Rangers fans here in the Tavern are delighted after the weekend’s Scottish Cup win, as they now turn their attention to the Old Firm clash at the weekend.
The Gers breezed past Championship side Falkirk in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, as four goals from the prolific Jason Cummings had many of our locals singing his praise throughout the night. Although, this will come as a huge relief for the on loan Nottingham Forest star, with his time so far at Ibrox being far from perfect, as according to reports in the Evening Times, manager Graeme Murty revealed that Jason Cummings is frustrated.
The Scotsman was in fine form at the weekend as he single-handedly took Rangers through to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup, with four goals to show for his inspired performance against Falkirk. Although, earning a place in the starting line-up has been difficult to achieve for Cummings in recent times, as his lack of opportunity in the first-team has brought about some frustrations.
However, many of our locals are calling for the 22-year-old to start in the weekend’s all-important Old Firm clash against Celtic, as yesterday’s performance surely can’t be overlooked by the Rangers chief.
“He said he is frustrated. ‘I want to play’. Well I said you need to move forward and put a line in the sand. Be you, be strong enough to be you.
“Hopefully those goals today will see a spark thrown into him – although I’m not sure the changing room can handle an even livelier Jason Cummings to be honest.”
Jason Cummings was incredible during the Gers’ Scottish Cup encounter against Falkirk, with his four goals piling the pressure on Graeme Murty to gift him a place in the starting line-up at the weekend. And, this couldn’t have come at a better time for the Bluenoses, with Jamie Murphy struggling for fitness after picking up a foot injury.
