Rangers could face a battle to keep hold of Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian scored 14 league goals for the Ibrox outfit last season.
The club have rejected a bid from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux for their 22-year-old winger, who is certainly one of the most exciting players at Rangers.
Rangers brought in the pacy player for £1m for HJK Helsinki and, while he has scored goals in the blue jersey, remains an inconsistent talent in more ways than one. It’s a risk selling him, but a risk keeping him too.
If they do end up losing the talented player, they need to replace him with the highest quality possible, particularly if they want to finally get back on par with cross-city rivals Celtic.
With that in mind, if Morelos does leave the club, here are two ideal replacements for the Colombian…
The talented 22-year-old has had an explosive start to the season for Brentford of the Championship. Watkins scored both in the opening fixture, a 5-0 thrashing of Rotherham, before scoring the equaliser at Stoke City to earn the Bees a draw.
Ollie Watkins is valued at £3.15m by Transfermarkt. The striker not only possesses pace, and a good dribbling ability, but is a real natural finisher.
He is the same age as Alfredo Morelos, and his precocious talents are similar to the current Rangers player. Given his value to Brenford, he wouldn’t come cheap, but he would be an ideal replacement if Morelos was to exit Ibrox.
Another 22-year-old, Sullay KaiKai is valued at £450,000 by Transfermarkt.
The winger is unlikely to get first-team football in a Crystal Palace side which includes the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend.
After a series of loan spells away from Selhurst Park, most recently with Charlton Athletic, KaiKai is surely ready for a permanent move.
His pace and trickery would scare SPL defences, this is an ideal replacement Steven Gerrard should consider.
