The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too happy with the news that the club will be playing two friendlies at Ibrox against Bury and Wigan in July, as they announced the dates on the Rangers website. The fixtures will be the first chances for the fans to see the new look Rangers under Steven Gerrard and they’ll be getting the fans ready for the new season.

Steven Gerrard will be looking forward to having a proactive summer where he can finalise his plans and bolster his squad as he prepares to take on the Scottish Premier League. The fans will be optimistic that the Liverpool legend can take the first steps in chasing down Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic and winning their first piece of major silverware since regaining their status as a top-flight club in Scotland.
Whilst the task will be huge for Gerrard and the club, if the Scouser does manage to overcome the odds and stop the Hoops domestic dominance. Celtic have won the last six pieces of major silverware available to them, completing Scottish football’s first ever double-treble in the process. The pressure will be ramped up in Glasgow, but Gerrard will be a legend if he can succeed and the pre-season friendly games will be a good start.

Whilst the fixtures are far from glamorous, they’re testing ties that will give Steven Gerrard a good idea of what his squad is looking like ahead of the club’s European qualifiers.
