Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned that they could be about to let one of their main players of last season leave following an impressive campaign at Ibrox.
New manager Steven Gerrard will be keen to rebuild his side when he takes charge and will be determined to keep his best players – however, reports are starting to suggest that he could be about to lose one and for a nominal fee.
And that’s because Fanatik (via Turkish-Football) are reporting that Besiktas are interested in signing Alfredo Morelos as a replacement for Cenk Tosun this summer, with it also reported that the Super Lig side believe that they can bring him for a fee as small as €2 million.
The Colombia international has hinted at a move to Turkey in the past when he was seen retweeting a post on Twitter that suggested Besiktas were interested in him, while reports also suggest that the Ibrox outfit are prepared to consider offers for a player who scored 14 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season.
And this recent update is unlikely to delight our resident Gers supporters, many of whom are hoping that the influential Morelos does indeed remain at Ibrox beyond the summer window.
Landlord’s Verdict: The locals in the Tavern will be disappointed to lose a player of Morelos’ quality, especially given that he is only 21 years of age.
The striker was vital to the Light Blues last season, netting 14 times in 31 games, and punters in the bar will be shocked that he could go for as little as €2 million.
Should he depart for Besiktas, the Rangers fans in the Tavern will expect Gerrard to bring in a man who can find the net as regularly as him – otherwise, he will have a very difficult time in Glasgow.
