January makeover: Rangers

January makeover: Rangers

Rangers have shown glimpses of something special in the current campaign but they haven’t quite reached their full potential just yet under Steven Gerrard.

The Bluenoses will be desperate to build some momentum after a rather mixed start to proceedings, with the Scottish Premiership title still in their sights. Although, there’re a couple of things that need to change in order for the Glasgow side to really push on to try and challenge the teams above them this season.

Indeed, Rangers could definitely do with bringing in a number of players to freshen things up and strengthen in what will be a long, tiring Scottish Premiership campaign. So, Steven Gerrard should already have his eyes on potential additions, with a busy January transfer window expected.

With that in mind, here’s a look at Rangers’ potential new line-up after January…

RANGERS’ POTENTIAL POST-JANUARY LINE-UP

Allan McGregor has been simply sensational for Rangers in the current campaign as he often comes up with a brilliant save at the most desperate of times.

Steven Gerrard will do everything he possibly can to hold onto James Tavernier this summer, while looking to strengthen on the opposite flank by bringing in Tottenham Hotspur youngster Kyle Walker-Peters, who hasn’t been able to break into the first team this season. Also, summer signings Gareth McAuley and Joe Worrall will look to form a formidable partnership at the heart of the defence, with a nice mix of youth and experience.

Scott Arfield has been one of the signings of the summer for Rangers but he may have to revert back to right midfield, a position he knows very well from his Burnley days. Meanwhile, Ryan Kent will look to cause problems on the left-hand side, with Lassana Coulibaly and Ovie Ejaria in the middle of the park.

The Bluenoses’ attack will consist of Alfredo Morelos and Dominic Solanke. Indeed, the 21-year-old could opt for a move to Rangers to seek regular minutes, with Steven Gerrard using his close ties to Liverpool. And, the Englishman would also be able to provide competition for Kyle Lafferty.
