It’s been a very busy month for the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern thus far and those who prop up our bar simply cannot wait for the weekend. Indeed, with domestic matters back on the agenda up in Scotland, our resident Gers are excited to see their new signings in action.
Still, by now, our local Light Blues know not to expect too much during a Rangers transfer window. With that in mind, reports from the Daily Record have barely gone down as much of a surprise. They claim Leeds United have joined Preston North End in the race for Ibrox favourite Josh Windass, who has been impressing since handed a more central role under the stewardship of Graeme Murty.
The Whites are understood to be ready to offer around £500k to tempt the former Accrington Stanley attacker back to England, though the report also does reveal some promising insight. Indeed, Windass is said to prefer to remain with Rangers and fight for his place under Murty, a huge boost to the drinkers who frequent our Tavern in their droves.
Windass has proved a difference-maker amid Rangers’ mini-revival under Murty. Operating behind the central striker, he allows the side to play on the counter with devastating effect, so losing him at this stage of the campaign would be a major blow.
