Rangers fans in the Tavern will be hoping they can delay Celtic’s title party when they travel to Parkhead on Sunday where defeat would see their arch-rivals lift the SPL trophy.
There is plenty of work to do this summer if Rangers are to end the Celtic dominance in the Scottish Premier League starting with work on their defence.
The Gers have targeted Burnley midfielder, Scott Arfield, but their defence remains the real problem area and a centre back should be top of Mark Allen’s shopping list. However, it shouldn’t stop there.
Indeed, south of the border, West Brom have a mountain to climb if they are to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season and are in danger of losing their star players if they fail to avoid the drop. With that in mind, Rangers should look to bring defender Craig Dawson from the Hawthorns, should the Baggies be relegated to the Championship.
The 27-year-old has been a crucial player at the back for many years now after leaving Bolton in 2013 for just over £1m.
Dawson is valued at £5.4m by Transfermarkt and would be a key player if he made a move up north.
A commanding defender, Dawson would add some much-needed stability and leadership in the Rangers defence. The Englishman should be available for a reasonable price if the Baggies fail to beat the drop and would be a step in the right direction to solve Rangers’ defensive issues.
Rangers fans, would be glad to see Craig Dawson at centre back next year? Let us know
